FIX CONVERSION — Almira Video Converter

Identify the stage where it fails

An encoder that does not load is a different issue from a video that fails after several minutes. Note whether the problem happens during engine loading, source preparation, frame encoding, MP4 finalization, or download preparation. Use the technical log for details. Do not assume the source is damaged because one attempt failed. Meeting the 1 GiB input limit also does not guarantee a job can finish: the browser needs additional memory for decoding, intermediate data, and the completed output.

When the engine will not load

A failed core or worker download may indicate a connection issue, stale cached assets, a browser restriction, or hosting configuration. Reload once when you have no unsaved work to lose. Try a current desktop browser and a small known-good file. Managed computers may restrict WebAssembly or workers. Multithreading also needs browser support and cross-origin isolation. The app can use a single-thread engine when multithreading is unavailable. Changing a filename will not fix a failed encoder download.

When encoding is very slow

Long recordings, complex scenes, deinterlacing, and quality-focused settings may take substantially longer than short simple clips. Keep the tab open and the device awake. Avoid several demanding tasks at once. Increasing thread count may not improve every device and can increase resource pressure. If a short sample works but the long source repeatedly fails, try a smaller job. Available memory and device limits are often more useful things to investigate than repeatedly choosing the highest thread count.

When progress is almost complete

Frames are only part of the work. FFmpeg can still be writing the container and moving MP4 metadata for faststart; the application then reads the output and creates its download. Progress is approximate, not a dependable countdown. Wait for the completed status. If the log stops changing for an unusually long time, consider cancelling and testing a smaller source. Refreshing discards local session work. Do not delete originals because an encoding percentage looks close to completion.

When sound or picture looks wrong

Check that mute is not enabled and that the selected source has playable sound. Choose the appropriate audio track when available. Horizontal comb-like edges on moving objects may call for deinterlacing; test a short clip. Distorted proportions require aspect-ratio checks, not an increase in resolution. Renaming a container does not repair unsupported streams or corruption. Joining unrelated DVD segments can create order or synchronization problems. Return to single-file conversion when narrowing down the cause.

Report the issue without private media

Include your browser and operating system, approximate input size, file extension, preset, whether the job joined segments, and the stage that failed. A short sanitized error excerpt is usually more useful than an entire private recording. Test a smaller known-good file and say whether it succeeds. Contact Almira support with those details. For jobs requiring full DVD navigation or more resources than a browser can supply, use a desktop workflow and retain your original files.
